(The sketch of Auguste Franchomme by J. Masson mentioned on page 92 corresponds to the work referenced in Myszkowski’s photograph at the National Institute of Fryderyk Chopin, Shelf-mark: F.3547).

Franchomme Scholar Louise Dubin has this photograph on her website with the discription “…pencil drawing of Auguste Franchomme by Jean Massaud, 19th century…”
When corresponding with the Chopin Institute, it was agreed that the signature present on the sketch does appear to be Massaud. However, the Chopin Institute and Bory, R. (Robert Bory), (1891-1960). (1951). La vie de Frédéric Chopin par l’image [The life of Frédéric Chopin through images] (p. 92). Geneva: Éditions Alexandre Jullien. Page 92, has it listed as Masson.
In my scholarly opinion, it is possible that there was a name variation, or the cursive used to sign is misleading. The historical sources reviewed concur that it’s Masson.
